Contemplation, 2019.
Oil painting installation
Exhibited at The New Art Gallery, Walsall.
October to November 2019.
This series of paintings is intended to be displayed as an installation in this particular formation. Contemplation explores the idea of self and how those closest to you contribute to the identities of everyone involved. The display echoes a basic family tree layout and this template accompanied many decisions made regarding the execution of the work.
This installation formed part of a joint exhibition at the New Art Gallery, Walsall where I displayed my work with my fellow students.
Violence, 2019.
36”x 24”. Oil on Canvas.
Exhibited at The Lighthouse Cinema, Wolverhampton, 8th-28th April 2019.
There arose an opportunity to exhibit Violence in a joint show this year which encouraged the development of the arrangement of the painting series as an installation. Alone it was effective enough, but as a group the paintings lend each other a greater depth of narrative and meaning. The interconnectivity of these works form a complete piece which prompt the audience to question their relationship to each other and the intention of the artist.
